A New Name

“And you shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name.”

By what name are you called? Every person in Christ has the privilege of being called by a new name continually. A name is a descriptive title. Moses asked the Lord, “What is Your name?” and the Lord said to Moses, “I AM THAT I AM,” the only name that could describe the “eternal is” of His character.

Christ said that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

As you live by every word from His mouth, your name, the description of your life, is constantly new. As love and tenderness proceeding out of the mouth of God become your portion to minister, Love and Tenderness are your name. When God speaks patience to you, then your new name is Patience, and on it goes. As long as God is new every moment in the I AM of His life, then you are continually called by a new name. It can never be predicted who you next will be but it is sure that “As he is so are you in this present age.”

When a man and a woman become man and wife, she ceases to call herself by her father’s name but takes on her husband’s. So, too, with Christ and His Bride, the Church. Whether He be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, or King of Kings, that becomes the Church’s name as well.
