A verse that rang loud in the ears of the Israelites, and today in the ears of God's people, is that God puts a difference between us and the world. Who makes the difference? God does. It was the Blood applied upon the doorpost that made the difference between the salvation of the firstborn and his death. Our firstborn shall live through the atonement of the Blood.
The people looked the same as others, and even in practice they did the same things as others. They were bowing down and worshipping false gods. If you walked by sight and observed the tired and ragged Israelites as they were in bondage, if you listened to their everyday language and tried to discern the difference, it would be extremely difficult. The difference is made by God through the Blood of redemption and not by the sight of men.
Glory to God! The Jews were indifferent to the whole plan of Moses. They were filled with a murmuring disposition; they were vile and corrupt, but God made the difference.
We are only sinners and never have the right to say who is saved and who isn't; for how can we say when it is God Who puts the difference? The difference is so great. It means Heaven rather than Hell forever, favor and acceptance rather than disapproval and rejection.
What makes the difference? The application of the Blood in the redemption plan of God.
