Horizontal Exchanges

God calls for people to awake from their sleep. People go to sleep mentally and emotionally; not stirred up, but settled down into their own structure of faith, refusing to enter into true purpose. They remain the same, never progressing in life. They study and train, yet they never produce the fruit of the teaching. They have yielded to a covenant made with death and Hell.

Death is separation from God in the physical. Hell is separation from God in the soul. The physical body makes an agreement to live in the cravings of its own need. The soul makes a covenant to live in soul power and self-consciousness, accepting its own way of life. Instead of building up others, a person in such a covenant is reactionary because his own need is not met. The person may seek for love when love is not what he needs. He enters into a human relationship where he becomes bound to the demands of the personality of another.

Such people think they need love, but what they need is life. They seek love and do not find life. They enter into relationships where they live in bondage to each other’s personalities instead of experiencing the life of God as their reality.

Satan has many tricks to get people to live in the conflict of their own human dilemma. He comes on the horizon of the scene to produce in horizontal exchanges the kind of mutual phoniness that produces instability in the responsible situations in which we must discover life.
