We read that every believer has received two extremely valuable things. First, he has received the abundance of grace; and second, the gift of righteousness. Both of these reign in Life. All too often believers are confined to an experience without reigning because of being born after the order of Adam's curse. But by receiving One, Jesus Christ, we are granted reigning Life. We have the abundance of grace that overcomes all, and a gift of righteousness that guarantees our stand before God to give us a provision in time and a standing in eternity.
Revival sometimes is known by signs and wonders; but to the Spirit-filled Christian who is living in a renewed mind, revival also is receiving revelation in the Word of God about God's grace extended toward him-a sinner. This grace gives us a life that goes beyond our deepest imagination.
Miracles and signs may come, and they do, but we follow Him because of His Word. We are stimulated and thrilled because His Word is breathing life into our spirit, quickening our soul and its faculties to know Jesus. This is revival. It is no wonder Paul never prayed that we, God's people, might live through signs and wonders. Rather, he prayed, "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him" (Ephesians 1:17). A revelation revival so that we reign through grace unto eternal life.
