Controlled Communication

Man has been given the gift of free volition; thus, he chooses which kingdom will rule his heart, and become the source of his treasure. Sooner or later, that which has been received, compiled, and accumulated in the mind will be expressed. Out of the evil treasure will come forth idle words of self-justification, self-defense, logical offense, and human wisdom, which is communicated in the form of personal opinion.

Hebrews 9:27 says, “And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” All men will be accountable for the words they have spoken. Matthew 12:37 says, “For by thy words, thou shall be justified and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” For this reason, Ecclesiastes 5:2b says, “Let you words on earth be few.”

It must be clearly understood that all aspects of the Christian life, especially communication, are not to be performed as works of the flesh. Rather, they are to be carried out under the enablement of the Holy Spirit in the obedience of faith.

No matter how hard a man tries to produce godly communication in his sinful flesh, he will find it impossible. Godly communication is only the result of the supernatural transforming power of the Word of God to renew the mind of the believer (2). We receive Christ by faith, and by faith we walk in Him (3), trusting Him alone to be the source of our treasure.
