Learn of Him

The Apostle Paul knew he was nothing in himself, but by the grace of God he knew he had something great to offer people. “Although I am less than the least of all of God’s people, this grace was given me; to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ” (Ephesians 3:8, NIV). But before he could minister to others, he had to go through a period of learning, which for him was three years (2).

Do we realize what message God has raised us up to deliver? Like Paul, he wants to equip us with the message of the riches of His grace. But we must first enter into God’s institution of learning.

We too must prepare before we can effectively share Christ with others. How do we prepare? By learning of Christ! “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls” (Matthew 11:29). Abraham learned by faith. “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went (Hebrews 11:8).

As we obey, we allow the Holy Spirit to teach us of the great wealth Christ offers us. Jesus Christ was the Son of God, but He learned obedience through the things He suffered (3). Are we willing to enter into God’s institution of learning to be educated in His way, whatever the cost, so we can have and share the riches of Christ?
