The Prepared Path

“Order my steps in thy Word: Let not iniquity have dominion over me” (Psalm 119:133). It is so important to start the day by praying about our schedules. The Lord goes before us and prepares the way (2), but we must be careful to follow that way and not allow sin to distract us or “have dominion” over us.

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord” (Psalm 37:23). “Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his step” (Psalm 85:13). Abraham walked in the steps of faith (3). Our ways are divinely appointed and every step is planned ahead of time. One way to keep on the path is to meditate on the Word.

Job said “When I washed my steps with butter” (Job 29:6). Churning milk is a process which produces butter. As we meditate on the Word of God (or churn it in our minds), it becomes a part of us. We are occupied with His thoughts, and we are led by the Spirit. “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25). Let the Word of God be your meditation today and He will prevent your feet from straying away from the path He has for you.
