“To everything there is a season.” The mature believer can discern just where the plan of God is taking him. What sometimes happens to a Christian who is disoriented to specific truth is that a devastating sense of indifference comes in to paralyze his effectiveness for the Kingdom of God. This is brought about especially during the times when the Lord is preparing him – the times of growth and development that precedes fruit bearing.
Psalm 31:15a says, “My times are in thy hands.” David wrote this when “he heard the slander of many” and said “They devised to take away my life” (Psalm 31:13b). But because he knew God’s character and the reality of His involvement in is life, David could say with the poise and relaxation of a Spirit-filled life, “my times are in thy hands.” David not only saw “God’s hand in the glove of history,” but he also saw that the time was ripe for the situation to enter his life. God does all things with perfect timing. Galatians 4:4 says that Jesus was born of a virgin “when the fulness of the time was come.” Before Bethlehem, was the time of preparation for His coming. The resurrection would bring a time of fruition in the future, and each event of our Lord’s life had a specific season and purpose for its occurrence.
Yours may be a time of adversity, but always remember, it is a time for heaven’s purpose.
