Covered by Love and Friendship

Afriend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. I don’t think a man should ever get married until his love for his wife could be characterized as being “born for adversity.” In his wife’s worst trouble, a husband has to be able to say he was born for that day.

Friendship is an amazing covering. We’re not talking about acquaintances or associates. We’re not talking about having mutual interests, mutual pleasures, mutual likes, or mutual dislikes. We’re talking about agape love, the love of God, that produces a friendship in which a person sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).

God’s love is an amazing covering. Not only does it cover a multitude of sins, but it never repeats the matter unless a person refuses to get right with God. Love covers a multitude of sins (James 5:20; 1 Peter 4:8). This is not sentimental love, but real love.
