One of the most important things any of us can learn is the principle of forward motion. For certain, every believer experiences difficult times. But these seasons are very crucial to our spiritual growth. They teach us to see the reality of Romans 8:37: “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
The phrase “more than conquerors” appears as one word, hupernikao, in the Greek. Huper, a prefix of preposition, means “over; above.” Nikao is a form of nike or “victory.” This is a tremendous truth! Our victory is not an earthly one, dependent upon performance or production. No, it is through Jesus Christ and His blood that we have triumphed!
Consider the day Jesus ascended to heaven (Acts 1:9). It was the final opportunity for Satan and his fallen host to mount an offensive against Christ. Their efforts were fruitless, and Jesus made an open show of them according to Colossians 2:15: “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
Certainly, He will cause us to triumph in any circumstance!
