Some Christians seem to think it glorifies God for them to live in discouragement, fears, anxiety, and frustrations. “I had a bad week, but I guess that’s what God wanted for me,” they say.
No, beloved, God did not want you to have a bad week. God wants our minds, our wills, and our emotions to be at rest. God wants to see our minds change and be renewed because we are His people.
God can quicken us to enjoy the purity of the promises. We can experience the joy of defeating the devil through our faith in Christ. God wants us to see a situation change in answer to our prayers.
In 2 Kings, Elisha’s servant looked out and saw an army surrounding them. But Elisha prayed, and God opened the servant’s eyes and revealed God’s chariots of fire protecting them.
We need this kind of vision. We need a heart that sees that God is with us at all times and in all circumstances. Our expectation must be the expectation of a winner because God will always cause us to triumph.
