NOTE: Child Care Subsidy Opens Additional Income Levels for Low-Income Families

The Maryland State Department of Education opened part of its child care subsidy waiting list for low-income working families on March 11, 2013. With this reopening, child care subsidies are available to additional eligible Maryland families with a child care need. Eligibility for the subsidy is based on income level and family size. For example, a family of three can have an annual gross income of up to $23,676 and still be eligible. Vouchers were issued to eligible families effective for service beginning March 11, 2013. Eligible families with higher income continue to be placed in frozen status.
