Meeting Brother M
We visited a brother whom we had never met before. We had only had conversations over the phone and the Internet. It was a 150 miles trip to his town. When we entered his home, we were met by a man paralyzed from neck down.
We learned that he was the 3rd child suffering from this degenerative disease in that family. His two older brothers had died of it. His mother explained that a person with this kind of a crippling disease will not make it beyond the age of 20.
When brother M turned 20, he was in a bad car accident and went into a coma. Everyone thought he had died, but by a miracle he gained consciousness and lived.
That same year, he heard the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Turkmen language on televison, and right then and there received Jesus as his Savior. He is 25 now. “Jesus gave me these 5 years,” he said with a very joyful spirit. He is not afraid to die because he has peace with God.
Gift to Serve
He asked me a shocking question: “God gives gifts of the Holy Spirit for service. What is my gift and how could I use it?” Sometimes we, who are healthy, don’t think about using our gifts to serve, but a heart that sees the love of Christ does, and is able effortlessly to build up others regardless of their infirmities. “the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,” Ephesians 1:18.
Brother M’s testimony touched us deeply. He asked for prayer. Let’s pray for his healing. –Pastor Toyli
