Second Corinthians 3:2b teaches that we as Christians are written epistles, “Known and read of all men.” This is a tremendous privilege that every believer is given. There are times that this privilege can be a contradiction because of the body of sinful flesh that every child of God possesses. How then can we be assured that we are representing Christ, and not a mere manifestation of our flesh?
In Proverbs 4:23, we find that out of the heart flows the issues of life. We must at all times communicate God’s thoughts and life. We do this by “beholding Him” (II Corinthians 3:18). Too often, we look at our failures and shortcomings and not at Him. When our heart is fixed upon Him, we will find that we are not occupied with ourselves.
It will be an amazing victory to us and to the kingdom of God when situations arise and we reveal Christ because our eyes are focused upon Him. The result of this will be God’s life flowing out from us. We do not need to show another side of the natural man to a lost world-they need to see Christ. They can see Him in us, because we have concentrated on Him, and have allowed Him to take over our thoughts. Thus, we become Christians who manifest Christ’s life, rather than the life of the natural man, and all of his trivial problems. This can all be accomplished by “beholding Him”.
