Foundation of Grace

The Kingdom of God is always on the move. The Word of God imparts to each careful hearer a vision to go forward and build by the grace of God.

Jesus said to Peter in Matthew 16:18b, “I will build my Church.” Today, God is working to erect the structure of the corporate body to be a “habitation of God through the Spirit.” When Nehemiah told his brethren how the hand of God was upon him, they said, “Let us rise and build” (Nehemiah 2:18b). The hand of God is building the church to glorify Jesus Christ and the finished work. As Christ calls us to be fellow laborers with Him, we must always remember that our primary building material is grace. “I commend you to God, and to the Word of His grace, which is able to build you up” (Acts 20:32a). We speak only that which is good to the use of edifying (2), that it may minister grace unto the hearer. If we exercise our senses in the details of life, we can also skillfully appropriate grace to edify ourselves in Christ’s building process (3).

The mature believer is one with a capacity to build up himself and others. He becomes an active part in God’s dynamic plan to build the Church of Jesus Christ.
