Repetition is the mother of learning. Paul wrote to the Philippians and said: “To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe” (Philippians 3:1). Notice that he implies that he repeated himself to the Philippians because he knew it would protect them from the problem that they faced as a church.
The Apostle Peter tells Christians to stir up God’s provisions by putting them in remembrance. “Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance” (II Peter 1:12 13).
Truth must not remain at a surface level in the believer’s life. He must allow the word of God to become resident in his soul, letting it dwell richly in his heart (2). The best way that this is accomplished is through repetition. Hear the Word of God over and over as often as you can. Go over notes you have taken; look up more scriptures on the subject. Do not become familiar with the Word, but allow it to be established in your mind. As God’s thoughts are internalized, you will be able to overcome in the difficulties that you face daily.
