Mexico Mission

Greetings from Mexico City, capital of an ancient, violent, barbarian civilization, now a modern metropolitan home to 30 million. The Lord gave us a theme verse and goal for 2017Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light unto all that are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:15-16, Amplified

We have sought ways to show the love of God in practical ways, or, like Francis of Assis once said, “Preach the gospel, at all times, use words if necessary.”

Nursing Homes

For over a year now God opened our eyes to the needs of the elderly and shut-ins. An exploding and neglected demographic, two teams have been visiting two nursing homes every Friday, where we hold services, have games, throw pizza parties and look for creative ways to show the gospel.

One of the fruit of this work is Julio, the ex-director of the infamous Isla Marias penitentiary. After holding various positions in the Defense Department. and other federal branches he fell on hard times financially and healthwise, ending up at the nursing home in a tiny room. When I shared the good news with him, he confessed some things he had done as the prison director. Hearing the gospel, he readily received forgiveness and new life. He never misses services at the home or at church. Pray for Julio, for souls in the two homes, and to expand this ministry to other homes.

Hospital Ministry

On Saturdays after our prayer meeting, we make 50 sandwiches and serve them and drinks in front of a major hospital, where we spend two hours praying with distraught patients and family members. Testimonies abound of salvations and healings. One chemical engineer told me of how his father had kicked him out of the house at 15. He made his own way in life, struggling to pay for his own education, becoming a PHD in chemistry. Now, when his father needed him, he opened his home to him as the father was on his deathbed. He was able to understand God’s forgiveness through his own instinctive actions, and prayed through tears with me.

VBS

We call them Summer Bible clubs to avoid the sometimes negative connotation of the word “school” for some. We had an enormously successful season at our three churches in Toluca, Catemaco, and Mexico City with at least 50 children here and 30 in the two branch churches. Great team unity, organization, and very positive responses from both the children and their parents.

Gatemaco

We spent a week in Catemaco, Veracruz, the center for witchcraft in Mexico, with family and church after this amazing woman and disciple, the wife of Pastor Jose Ireneo, passed away on Aug. 27th. As well as honor her life, we were able to witness and see the amazing fruit of her hard labor in Catemaco as well as in the village of Ahuetepec. Please pray for her husband and the Pastor Jose and their three teenage children, Jonatan, Manuel and Joana.  Our leadership will be tag-team visiting the family and the church this year to minister. Pray for an increase in the church and work.

30 years in Mexico

We are deeply grateful for the enormous privilege to having been able to serve God full-time in Mexico for 30 years this year. The three churches, the many disciples and salvations could never have happened without your prayers and support. We have the most amazing, faithful small band of supporters in the world, each one called by God – we have never solicited support from anyone. Our intention, although it has never been easy, is to continue in the work of the Lord, until He comes or He takes us.

Please pray for one project I have in mind to write in book form my years of sermon notes on the books of the Bible.
Pastor Bruce and Robin Moon, Mexico City
