Moab set out to do the work of the Lord. However, God said that he did it deceitfully. The Hebrew word for “deceitfully” is remiyah. It means “slack, slothful, or negligent.” Jeremiah 48:11 says, “He hath settled on his lees.” In other words, he allowed himself to become familiar with the work of the Lord. He stopped following the leading of the Spirit, and decided to do the work at his own pace.
Many times, people will promise to perform a task, but never finish it. Others do their jobs, but not to the best of their ability. All of us have fallen into these categories at some time or another.
Oh, that believers would understand the doctrine of stewardship. Time brings the return of the Lord closer, and He wants His church to be quickened to do His work. Revelation 3:15-16 says, “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.”
The work of the Lord cannot be taken lightly. Neither can it be taken half heartedly. Glorify God in all that you do. Never hold anything back from the cross, for only through it will you experience God’s resurrection life.
