Serve

This is the second day of a three-part series. To serve without the breath of life in worship will lead to faint-heartedness and weariness. Those who serve without knowing how to worship will enter into personality clashes with other believers and will get spiritually tired. Worshipping in spirit and truth will produce faith-rest in service.

Galatians 5:13b says, “But by love serve one another.” This kind of service rests in unconditional love. If individuals serve without worship, they will be carnal. They will start complaining and will not have the spiritual resources to continue in their service. Galatians 6:9 states, “And let us not be weary in well-doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” It is through the internalizing and daily recognition and concentration of God’s truth that the spirit truly worships the Lord. The Word quickens and gives life to those who meditate on it (2). This imparted life is the fuel by which the child of God is able to serve God acceptably. Hebrews 12:28b states, “Let us have grace whereby we may serve God acceptably.” This individual has learned how to serve the Lord with gladness (3). Again, his service is resting in God’s love. “He will rest in His love” (Zephaniah 3:17).

By serving God in this manner, it will give purpose to our worship and a foundational premise for the daily spiritual battle that every believer wages. Go and serve the Lord your God (4).
