There are many times when we come to what seems to be a point of no return. Our bodies may be worn out, our spirits are low, and our lives seem hopeless. There are times when we give and give and give until we just seem absolutely spent. What do we need in these times? Comfort, courage, and reassurance.
In 2 Corinthians, Paul found himself at the point of hopelessness. He had been forsaken by many of his friends. Only God was standing with him at that point. He could have wallowed in self-pity, one of the great enemies of our souls. He could have allowed his mind and heart to become desperate and discouraged. But rather than sink into despair, Paul turned to the God of all comfort and continued his walk with God in joy.
When we struggle, it is important for us to turn to the God of all comfort. In failure, we can turn to the God of all comfort. We quietly seek Him with meekness of heart. Reassurance and courage can be found in no other. Only God can supply what we need in times such as these.
