God uses the Bible to build up His people. It is the Word of grace, objectively building us up. Having this as our premise, think of your soul as a basic structure and the Word of God as the substance that the Holy Spirit uses to build upon it.
The prerequisite for this structure is the filling of the Holy Spirit, consistent with Ephesians 5:18, which says that we are to be filled continually with the Holy Spirit. We produce the action with our free volition by going positive toward the Word of grace. As a result, we can keep being filled with continuous action. That is the prerequisite for any godly soul structure that reflects God’s nature. There are many tremendous verses on the subject of building up the soul: Acts 9:31; Ephesians 3:17 and 19; Galatians 4:19; Colossians 2:6; and 1 Peter 2:5. And even when the structure is complete, the building process doesn’t stop there.
According to Psalm 16:5-6 and Psalm 23:5, my cup runs over. That means that the capacity of my soul runs over. I will not be living in self-pity or self-induced misery. I will not be living with the wrong soul structure. Instead, I will have a tremendous capacity to live and to pour out life to others.
