Planted in the House of the Lord

Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. Psalm 92:13

“I go to church” – although we hear this statement quite often and it sounds good, we can’t see any deeper meaning. The statement “I go to church” is similar to “I go to the cinema,” “to the match,” or “to the restaurant.” I go because it is appropriate to do so, because I have gotten used to it or because my parents told me to.

Be the Church

The recent events connected to the pandemic and lockdown have shown us that God’s call for us is so much more than just “going to church”. It is to be transformed to His image and likeness. It is not to “go” to church, but to “be” the church. To grow. To be the salt and light. I believe God wants us to be planted in the house of the Lord.

Think of yourself as a seed with potential in it. When planted in the right place, it can grow into something powerful and bring forth fruit. Jeremiah 17:8 says that such a tree’s roots grow deeper and deeper. Heat, storms, or tests do not pose a threat to it.

Look at sequoia, a majestic tree, that grows to 40 feet high. Its roots run deep, both vertically and as far as 50 meters horizontally. This causes the roots of a singular sequoia to entwine with the roots of trees standing next to it, causing them to strengthen each other. This depicts how important it is to gather, to be in fellowship, and to grow in unity in the Lord. Our roots entwine and help us to stand in times of trials.  – Pastor Maciej Knechciak – Warsaw, Poland
