Cause and Effect

When we look at the universe through either the telescope or the microscope, we see the beautiful and orderly flow of God’s design. Certain specific laws govern and guide the spiritual dynamics and soul of the believer. Nothing happens in our lives by chance; all is part of God’s will to conform us to Christ’s image.

People have a time and chance philosophy that leads to anxiety, despair and instability. But today, believers can rejoice that not one detail of life they experience, has not passed without God’s approval. “Righteousness exalts a nation” (Proverbs 14:34a), not just the chance occurrence of a chain of events. The believer will be blessed according to how receptive he or she is to God’s gracious provision. Hebrews 12:4-11 teaches that chastisement is an effect that has a cause: negativity to God’s plan. Blessing will come when the soul prospers through obedience to Bible doctrine (3). God will not prosper a carnal believer because it would not be the orderly thing that His perfect nature would dictate.

Remember, “…the curse causeless shall not come” (1). Our own free will determines to what degree God will bless. Choose life!
