The Bible states, “Live. I have caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field, and thou hast increased and waxen great and thou art come to excellent ornaments: thy breasts are fashioned, and thine hair is grown, whereas thou wast naked and bare” (Ezekiel 16:7).
When we believe on Jesus Christ and accept Him as our Savior, grace and unmerited favor flow toward us. God gives a mandate of free grace, which we cannot earn and in no way deserve. The Lord performs forgiveness, bestows mercy and unleashes the power of regeneration through the Holy Spirit. This is the performance of grace. God seeks the sinner who has gone astray. It is all and only God who is able to purchase us from the slavery of sin and from eternal damnation through the literal blood of Jesus Christ, our substitute, who paid the penalty for our sin. We were dead in our trespasses and sins, but the royal word came, “Live.” Live without treaty. Live without condition. Live without bribes. Yet, live because you believe! According to God’s Word, it is through the non meritorious action of believing in Jesus Christ that we live (2). It simply means that God gives you something you do not deserve because you have believed on Christ.
