He That Hath An Ear

Listening seems to be a lost art among many Christians. This is one of the greatest challenges that the Holy Spirit has with believers — getting people to listen. They go into a church service, but once it is over they forget the entire message. They find themselves in a situation shortly afterward where they do not seem to be equipped. They do not have their frame of reference strengthened in that area.

It is so important that we listen very carefully when the Word of God is taught. “And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given” (Mark 4:24). We need to learn to take heed to what we hear because the Holy Spirit wants to speak to us through the Word of God. “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying unto the churches” (Revelation 2:7a). We listen in meekness and faith as the Holy Spirit speaks through the Word. This will enlarge our frame of reference and build on the previous truths that we have received from the Scriptures. This will strengthen us and equip us for the coming battles. We will also be saved from reacting when turmoil and pressures arise; we will allow the Holy Spirit to fight with the Word which we have heard, and we remain quiet and peaceful. Take heed to what you hear.
