We are commanded in the Word to buy wisdom. “Buy the truth, and sell it not, also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding” (Proverbs 23:23). It is more precious than rubies (2) and blessed is the man who finds it (3). But there are so many Christians who never live in wisdom. They have knowledge, but they never carry it out in their everyday life. Talking about knowledge for days does not accomplish anything – it must be experienced.
Wisdom always carries out what it believes. We can say we believe in prayer, but if we do not pray, we do not have the wisdom of prayer. If we say we believe in God’s promise to take care of our life, but do not live in peace, then we are not experiencing wisdom. “It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God” (I Corinthians 1:30, NIV). God did not just speak His Word, but it became knowledge in action. Love always starts with an attitude, which is revealed in an action.
There are rewards for people who fear Him, and carry out wisdom. “For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased” (Proverbs 9:11, NIV). The wise man lives longer, happier and beyond his natural capacity. And, “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise” (Proverbs 13:20a).
