“…You have magnified Your Word…”
“I will worship … and praise Your Name for Your loving kindness and … truth and faithfulness: for You have exalted above all else Your name and Your Word and You have magnified Your Word above all Your name” (Psalm 138:2).
God has said
At times the Holy Spirit arrests us with the fact that, “… with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment” (Luke 1:37). In other words, it will always be as God has said to us, whether personally or corporately (Acts 27:25).
“….As your day…”
Embracing this truth of our God’s integrity and faithfulness to perform His Word establishes our lives with amazing stability. For example, Deuteronomy 33:25 promises that “ … as your day so shall your strength, your rest and security be.” I have been meditating on this verse since last summer before leaving for Central Asia. But recently it became even weightier to me as the Holy Spirit connected it with other promises from the Word of God, “line upon line” (Isaiah 28:10).
Strength
It is clear that throughout the length of each day, He gives us STRENGTH! Regardless of our circumstances, because the sufficiency of grace (II Corinthians 12:9), because the Lord Jesus is constantly infusing us with inner strength (rePhilippians 4:13), and because He promises to give His people unyielding strength (Psalm 29:11). He has “given His Word” to be faithful to these and to all His promises, to fulfill them.
Rest
In Deuteronomy we are promised REST in each day. Of course! He is our Shepherd and makes us to lie down in green pastures [Mercy]. He continually invites us to come unto Him, always, at any time, in any circumstance or condition, and we will find rest for our souls (Matthew 11:28). Of all people on the earth, when we are rest-less, we can command our souls: “Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you” (Psalm 116:7).
Security
Finally, Deuteronomy 33:25 guarantees that we will have SECURITY. Psalm 4:8 confirms that “….You, Lord, alone make me dwell in safety and confident trust.” As does Proverbs 3:26, “ … the Lord shall be your confidence, firm and strong, and shall keep your foot from being caught [in a trap or some hidden danger].” And the “line upon line” keeps coming! “He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High [the place of absolute faith against feeling, sight and reason] shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no foe can withstand]” (Psalm 91:1).
A sound investment
This is such a minute fraction of what is ours in Christ through faith which is contained in His Word. But even this little glimpse into what He has promised His children, reveals that it is so worth it to invest our lives in the Eternal Word of God. The Word which He Himself exalts above even His Name abides forever. The Word which created all things, upholds all things, is greater than all things, and will outlast all things.
