As a believer begins to grow, God will test his obedience and his insecurities. Abraham left Ur of the Chaldees, and, after some time, he came into a land of famine. He had a family to take care of, so, being reasonable, Abraham went down to Egypt. But God said, “No.” Abraham had been called to go by faith to a place he didn’t know.
God promised to meet his needs and to show him great favor. But Abraham was so occupied with himself and his personal needs by sight that he wasn’t hearing God. Of course, God would allow a famine to reduce Abraham to faith!
Faith is the only thing that pleases God (Hebrews 11:6). Never make a decision based on circumstances, needs, or provision, because your provision comes by having faith in the living God. God deliberately allows His plan to make us insecure. He has to reveal our insecurity to us before He can deal with it.
