The Word of God has so much to say about hearing. “Take heed to what ye hear” (Mark 4:24a). “Take heed therefore how you hear” (Luke 8:18). “Be more ready to hear” (Ecclesiastes 5:16).
Why does God speak so much on this subject? It is because He has a call for each believer’s life. In the messages to the churches in Revelation 2 and 3, Jesus said to be careful to hear what the Spirit has to say to the churches. Seven times He said it. The whole premise for a Spirit-filled life is based upon Spirit-filled listening. We must learn how to discern what to listen to and how to hear from the Holy Spirit. He is the One who will bring to remembrance all that we have been taught (John 14:26).
As we start today, we need to come before God and tell Him that we want the Holy Spirit to control our thoughts, our emotions, and our will. Then He will initiate authority in our lives, and we will be able to hear His voice clearly.
