There is no disconnect between what we call our spiritual life and our so called natural life. We are indwelt by the Holy Spirit of God and he does not take a break while we are earning money, spending money, vacationing, studying for a degree, making breakfast. He is always guiding. He is always convicting.
People say we need to “find a balance” between the spiritual and natural. No, we need to see that what we have called natural is included within that which is spiritual.
If we persist to seek this balance we will frustrate ourselves because God will not help us achieve our imaginary goal. I belong to God, Christ redeemed me; and so all of my living belongs to him as well. By the work of God we are spiritual through and through, and our life is to be also.
If God has given you your job, then he will maintain that occupation as you follow him. If he has not given you that job, then you must keep it yourself. And you will keep it at the cost of your fellowship and ministry. This is true of your education as well. If God has set that educational path before you, it will not be separate from your spirituality, it will be part of your life with God.
People might say, “no one is that spiritual,” God is, and who do you want to spend your time with?
