Enoch and Elijah are two classic examples of people who walked with God. “To walk with God” means we are going forward, relating to progress. When anyone walks with God, his very life will testify against ungodliness.
There is a high price to pay in order to walk with God. Our whole life and stability must be derived completely from God, with no attachments whatsoever to this world, which will one day pass away (2). It means laying down our lives totally (3). It will cause us to say that we have none upon the earth but the Lord God (4). All temporal things will be gone from our lives. We will find ourselves totally weak but dependent on God.
What greater thing could any Christian want than to please God with his life. Because of this, God took Enoch away. “He was no more” (Genesis 5:24, NIV). “The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart; and merciful men are taken away, now considering that the righteous is taken from the evil to come” (Isaiah 57:1).
