God gives His words from His mind to our heart. They are personal. They are real. They are eternal. Not of His promises shall fall or fail. We were made from dust, but we shall be resurrected for glory and grace. (2 Peter 1:4; 1 Corinthians 15:42-44)

P. Schaller

Good morning. Praise God. Praise God. Amen. I feel like praising God all day. It’s good to be together. We’ll have a great service here. P. Scibelli is going to share the word. Praise God! What an awesome place to be where we can receive from God in our hearts what God has to say to us.

The last few days have been interesting for me and my family. My mom passed to be with the Lord yesterday. Many of you got to know her because she moved down from New York last November. I was with her last Tuesday, and she started to go down hill and the doctor said she had about 72 hours to live. It was about half of that maybe. My sister Mary came from the West coast and we were together as a family. My mom lived an awesome life. She was 97 when she passed.

For an introduction, I want to say something to you about our Bible. This Bible, the marks on the page in the Greek language are called GRAPHE. We say in English GRAPHE, the markings on the Bible. What the Bible is saying is called the logos. Heaven and earth will pass away but not my word. The logos will not pass away. This is the whole thought of God. How many have a Bible? How many of you are reading the Bible and thinking with the Bible and learning the Bible? There is a good word for us this morning, this word RHEMA. It’s the Greek word for, I’ll read it to you. The primary Greek word for Word of God is logos and the second primary Greek word is rhema which refers to a word that is spoken and means an utterance. A rhema is a verse or portion of scripture that the Holy Spirit brings to our attention with application to a current situation or need for direction. I think you know this. Not everyone understands that when I’m reading my Bible I can go through a chapter and one part of it maybe gets my attention and I take that and roll it around in my heart and mind. That might be a rhema. It’s happened to me without reading the Bible that I am in a situation and just like a bolt of lightning, like a flash it’s clear that God said something to me, and I have my – it may be a Bible verse reference. One time it happened to me when I went to Bible college. 1972 I went by faith and didn’t know exactly what I was doing. I went to where I was staying. I knelt down and God spoke to me and he said clearly Joshua 1:5. I didn’t know what that meant. I wondered if Joshua was a book of the Bible. I looked in the table of context and I went to Josh 1:5 and that verse spoke to my heart. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. Good word. God has been with me. That word was something very meaningful to me. That’s called a rhema.

My mom passed. We sat in a room as a family as she is in the bed but she’s not there. She’s gone to be with God. How many angels came to take her? Luke 16, I understand two angels came to take the poor man Lazarus. I better doublecheck that. When Jesus was raised from the dead and they went into the tomb, how many angels were there? Two. One where his head was and one where his feet were. What is the meaning of that? I have two parts to me. My physical life is like my feet and my spiritual life is like my head. I have an angel take care of my physical life lest I dash my foot against a stone and an angel helps me receive from God and helps me spiritually and mentally in my life. Wow! This is what I wanted to say. Years ago, when I was thinking of death. I had gone perhaps as you have seen people pass and the human body is in 1 Cor 15, it says in vs. 42, this was a rhema for me. That helped me understand the process, the whole idea of dying. I can’t get used to dying. How about you? Ask your neighbor. Are you comfortable with the idea of dying? Have you got used to that yet? Can you welcome it. Is it normal? I don’t know what your neighbor just said to you, but I’d like to say to you as for me, I’m never used to the whole idea. I don’t want to die. There is in Heb. 2 the fear of death. We were not made to die. We were made to live. Jesus said it this way. Remember what he said? How come you don’t remember what he said? Remember what he said? He said God is a God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Is he the God of the dead or the living? What did he mean? Abraham and Isaac and Jacob are not dead. God is not the God of the dead. He is the God of the living. They are with God. Halleluiah.

I’m saying all this because you and I need to learn to live by rhemas, living words that come from God that help you pilot your life, go through life. You will face not death but failure, broken heart, disappointment, pain, hunger maybe or maybe depression or fear or worry. We are people. We are weak and God has made us and pities us knowing our frame that we are made from the dust. How shall a man live then, Jesus said. Man does not live by his belly alone. Put your hands on your big belly and shake your belly like jelly! Man does not live by bread alone but by rhemas. That’s why you read your Bible to yourself by yourself in the evening and afternoon and you come to church and listen to messages so you can get rhemas. How many have come in here on a certain day and nobody knows about your finances or emotions or family or job. But God knows. He says something from this book right from his heart and mouth used to guide you and govern you and give you counsel and help you and direct your paths. We have a new and living way. Like the escalator in the airport. You know, it takes you up and down and horizontally. It’s a new and living way.

The following passages of Scripture give examples of the rhemas of God. When Jesus told Peter to cast the fishing net on the other side of the boat Peter said master, we have toiled all the night and have taken nothing; nevertheless at thy word, rhema I will let down the net.

Luke 5:5 When the angel told Mary she would be pregnant, Mary said behold the handmaid of the Lord. Be it done unto me according to thy rhema, Luke 2:29. God gave John the message he was to preach as a forerunner to Christ. The rhema of God came unto John, Luke 3:2. God told Peter then I remembered the word of the Lord. John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit, Acts 16. Peter remembered the word of Jesus which said before the cock crow, you shall deny me three times, Mt. 26:75 Before the cock crow, Peter remembered the rhema of Jesus that told him that. What has God told you in your life? Can you remember any rhema that God told you? I still have some of them that he has spoken to me that I believe are words from God’s mouth to my heart. This means your life is sometimes an adventure because God said. I will do what God said. Mary said let it be unto me according to – and what happened? Her life was an adventure. Peter let down the net. At your word there is an adventure. When you live by words that come from God, you might end up praying and going to the mission field. Let me say this regarding offerings. Tithing. You should go to God on that subject and look in the Scripture and see if it’s from God. If it’s according to your word. God said he will open the windows – I’m saying gates, doors, bars – he’ll open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing. That is sometimes why we have financial difficulty because we are not living our life based on his word or his rhema. Maybe he will say take up your bed and walk and you’ll be healed. I thought I’d say it for a few minutes.

I see my mom, but I know she’s not there. I remember this verse from years ago. So is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption. It is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor. Another word is humiliation. When you and I die, it’s a humiliation. It’s dishonor. That’s why personally I don’t believe in open caskets. I don’t think it’s needed. I know funeral homes do it and advise it. I remember the person in honor. Their body is sown in dishonor. I care about their honor not dishonor. Don’t worry if you do that. It’s in principle. A corpse, a body serves its purpose in this life. That’s not the whole picture. It is sown in dishonor. It is sown in humiliation. That’s not the whole picture. It is raised in glory. One day there will be the trump of God. We are in heaven and our bodies are in the grave. By the way, believers in heaven are anticipating the resurrection of their body. It will be redeemed from the dust of the ground and be glorified. That day is coming in heaven and it’s coming for us. That’s called the rapture. With these words I am comforted and with these words we make our lives walk through a world of death and shame and trouble.

I give you counsel this morning. Do all you can to live by these words. Get them, eat them, and enjoy them. Think about them. Build your life around them. They will speak to you and counsel you and guide you and give you liberty and a message. Wherever you are at any time in life, you will have something the earth can’t give you and the earth can’t take away. I got something that the world can’t give, and the world can’t take it away (singing). Feel free to come for bread and wine for communion this morning.

I wanted to give a shout out. Nora is here from Finland. The Gibbs family is here. So good to see you. Doug Jansen is back from Hungary. Oleg is here. Oleg is going back Wednesday to Europe. These are great people. Feel free to come forward for the elements of communion. Noah Frankenhauser and Christian are here because Grace is having a baby soon.

Before P. Scibelli brings the message, we’ll take the offering and there will be a song. I want to invite everyone listening to me. We have a brother to say something. Is Jesse here? To talk about how you can go on the internet and there is an app that you can go on your phone for donating electronically. We welcome you for doing that. I have to be honest. We are running a deficit about $50,000 and that does happen sometimes but actually it shouldn’t. We have enough people and our history of giving and we are able to cover our budget. When offerings drop off, incorporate it as a principle in your life. My finances is part of my faith in God. My faith in God is connected with my pocketbook. I bring my faith in God where it hurts maybe or where I have joy in giving. Our church is in so many countries and places. We have so many visitors. We are being so effective. We invite you with your heart before God give and support and help us. It’s very important. Amen.

P. Scibelli

2 Peter 1, He keeps making a way for me, right? How about you? You, too? I love studying about Peter especially when it comes to the promises of God. He was an interesting man. He wasn’t so sure the Gentiles should receive the message. He said to Jesus everyone will deny you. Not me! Sorry, Peter. Didn’t work out that way, yet he understood something about the promise of God.

vs. 4. Before I read that, I had a thought in my mind while I was sitting there. I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day and heard the voice. That’s like a rhema. I’m in the Spirit. It’s the Lord’s Day. And I heard a voice. Jesus spoke to John and he was in a difficult place. At 98 on the island of Patmos on a cave prison, yet through the word of God he would escape. Amen.

Bible school is coming, August 26th. If you have never taken a Bible college class, what a way to escape. Don’t worry about grades. Just come and learn the word. If you’ve taken them 20 years ago, this is another day, another era, another age. Just come and hear the word of God. 2 Peter 1:4, exceeding great ad precious Bible college promises. I’m sorry, I misquoted that! Precious promises by these Bible college promises you might be partakers of the divine nature having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Partakers with the promises are escapers. Partakers of the divine nature. After service, pastors will be in front if you need pray for anything.

I’ve been thinking of the promises of God and the importance. Promise signifies

1) every promise is grace given. Given by the God of all grace.

2) Every promise is a personal word from God. We heard Pastor Schaller talk about rhemas.

3) every promise has an eternal purpose.

4) the Spirit performs the promises not me. The new man, the holy Spirit is the performer of the promises.

5) every promise glorifies God.

These are the promises of God. I’m not talking about subjectivity in the mind. I’m talking about these eternal promises that God has given us. Let’s think about a few of them. God promises to love you, Jer. 31:1-3. Does God love you? Does he promise to love you even when you think it’s not happening or decided it’s not happening. God is love and can do nothing but love me.

2) God promises me mercy that rejoices over judgment. I like to judge myself, condemn myself, beat myself up and then do it to other people. God says mercy – l like how he jumps up. Jump up once. Jump and spin. Mercy lifts up, exalts, is jumping for joy. Mercy rejoices with a jumping rejoicing over judgment. No judgment. No condemnation. Here’s a promise. There is therefore now no condemnation. Like that promise. How about I will never leave you Heb. 13:5-6, Josh 1:5, Ps 51, Is 49:14-16, I will never leave you. You can leave me, but I won’t leave you. I love that, don’t you? I don’t want to leave him, but he will never leave me. Faithful is he who called you and will also do it. He doesn’t just call. He does the doing. I think I have to do this. The church got to do this or that. We got to do this or that. Faithful is HE who also will do it. God is going to do it. Has God said he leads us. Rom 8:11-13 does he say he will quicken us according to his word? These are promises from God. 1 Ki 8:56 not even one word of the promise will fail. Those are the promises of God.

Ever meet people who make promises and it never happens. Who said yes? People make promises, the government, politicians, old sin nature people, natural people, parents, children make promises. All the promises of God are in him yes and in him amen unto the glory of God by us. All of them are yes, not no. Yes and amen. Yes and amen. Healing I will heal you. God heals, doesn’t he? Hello? Can God provide your needs? Even when you tithe and go beyond the offering with tithe. No reason we should be $50,000 down. Shouldn’t happen that way. Give. God has made a promise. My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory, Php 4:19 that is a promise from God. I can do all things through Christ not through me that strengthens me. And when they grow old, they will not depart speaking of children. there will be some rough times. These rivers run rough and then come to a nice pool, calm water. Promises concerning children and grandchildren. How about promise about speaking the word of God.

Go stand in the temple and speak the words of this life. You share the gospel and people will be touched. Some will say yes, and some will say no. That’s all part of the Gospel. Usually I get rejected most of the time but that’s okay. People have to have an opportunity to say no. God will bring it back to them at the white throne judgment. Bring the message of the gospel to people. Saturday morning we go out. You can go out with someone and watch for a month and you’ll figure it out the first day and do all the talking. These are promises from God. All authority in heaven and earth is given unto me. Go. We have 768 churches in the world. 33,000 people coming to church. GG isn’t just what you see here. Give God a hand. All authority has been given unto me. Go. 3,500 Bible college students taking classes around the world. Halleluiah again. Another promise. I can deliver you from 6,000 demons, Mark 5. One second. Out now. They’re gone. He becomes a preacher. That’s a promise from God. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. He was manifest to destroy the works of the devil. Devil shut your mouth. That’s Zech. 3:1. Can God heal? Can he heal mentally? Help me. He can heal mentally and physically. Can God deliver marriages? Yes. Can God give a husband love for his wife even when she doesn’t deserve it. She always deserves it. Can a wife have love for her husband when he’s Mr. Miserable and says you burned the potatoes. The macaroni doesn’t taste like my mothers.

My poor wife, I say there’s nobody can make sauce like my mother. Your mother is in heaven and you have to wait until heaven to have that macaroni again. I can’t wait for that one.

Look at the promises of God. God says you can be forgiven and forgive your brother and sister if they have done something. Forgiven, forgotten, and gone forever. It’s passed from my mind. I don’t need to remember what someone has done to me. I don’t remember what I have done to myself. He has cast my sin behind his back. Micah 7:18-12 these are the promises of God. I go to prepare you a place, and if I go and prepare you a place, I’m going to come back and take you with me for where I am you shall also be. That’s a promise from God. Heaven is my home, not Baltimore. It is from now. I love Baltimore. I don’t read what newspapers say. I love Baltimore. We had a great time knocking on doors Tuesday night. Only place I know how to get to is here. One time I got lost trying to find my daughter’s house. It’s not important. My wife says a lot of things you don’t remember. If I go home with the Lord, you won’t know how to make an egg. That’s what restaurants are for. People in the body will cook for me or I will eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches the rest of my life. I ate one every day for 25 years. Every day. I loved it.

We are going to bear fruit in our older age. Retire? Getting up there you know. You’re going up there I know. Are you listening. Promises. Someone promised me they were going to move to Ghana years ago. I won’t say who it is. They said it to me on my porch. I knew he wasn’t coming I was just entertaining him. You have a promise for Malawi. Look at these two amazing Arman’s. They have a promise from God. You’ll be preaching when you’re 95. That’s a promise from God. He that winneth souls is wise. What would you call that? A promise from God. Are you with me? What an incredible opportunity. These are exceeding great and precious promises and by these we become partakers of the divine nature and that’s how we escape. We escape by being partakers of the promises. Someone said you ought to cut your travel down. You ought to cut your hair. If he gives me energy to do it, I’ll do it. God has given you a call and he’s not taking it away. God has promised to fellowship with us and be a light in darkness. Going through darkness? Yeah, thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for you are with me. Your rod and staff comfort me. I’m with you.

God is my refuge and my strength a very present help in times of trouble. Ps 46 it says it three times he’s my refuge and strength. He’s a very present help and he will help me right early. I don’t know how we will pay the bills. Let God pay them. God can do it. Halleluiah. He spoke the world in existence in a few days. What’s my problem? Someone bought me a new cell phone and I said it’s too slippery. The flip phone fits in my hand. I got Ge 28:10-14 when landed in Accra Ghana in 1986. God gave me that promise, and he said you’ll have churches in every single country and capital in west Africa and to this day there is. He said it’s time to go east and we went east and south and we went south and now he said time to go north and we had our first church service in Morocco. They have 12 people. Josef was in charge of the church. We have a megachurch. 12 in Morocco is a megachurch. God gave us a promise for north Africa and Algeria and western Sahara. I’m talking about the promises of God. They are sure and never fail. Heb, 6:13-18, Titus 1:2, they never lie. That’s why Bible college is important. You get to learn more about the promises. The promises of God. We can evaluate circumstances and situations according to sight or emotion or how we think, or we evaluate according to the promises of God.

I remember when I had a stroke and lying in bed in Ghana. I could not move only my eye lid. The devil loves to project. You’re going to die. No I’m not. You’re going to die. You’ll never make it out of this hospital. You’ll be in the hell hospital forever. I didn’t know how to wash my hands or use the bathroom. Thy said you’ll have to learn how to knit. I said I’m knit together in love with God. God healed me in the pulpit years ago. God reconnected the brain. You know what, I got promises from God.

You have any promises from God? Don’t let the devil lie to you. He’s the father of all lies. Based on what you see and feel, where are the promises of God? When is Jesus coming back? He’ll find out. My God loves me, forgives me, is faithful, guides me, leads me, is merciful. He gives me energy and strength. He helps me disciple and be discipled. All the promises are in him yes and amen. We simply believe them. Sickness can go like that. If it doesn’t, don’t condemn yourself. Maybe it will go like this and take a little longer. We don’t fellowship only with the promise but first and foremost with the Promisor.
