Shut the Door

Matthew 6:6 states, “But thou, when thou prayest, enter int thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” The Father wants to spend time with you in secret. He wants a time when you shut the door on all of your mental, emotional, and physical pressures. He wants to impart His heart to you today. Have you stopped lately to spend time with your Heavenly Father?

When we take time with the Father in secret, He will answer in public. Think of these promises concerning prayer! “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you” (Matthew 7:7). Jesus said, “and all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive” (Matthew 21:22), and “whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (John 14:13).

Think of all the heartaches that God’s people have suffered because they have not prayed. “And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor” (Isaiah 59:16a).

Let us shut the door and approach the Father alone in prayer. Let us have a life that is one of asking. We will soon find the power of God to handle every detail of life.
