The actual blood of Christ is essential to man’s salvation. Without appropriating the true value of the blood of Christ, a Christian is left with an anemic Christianity, one of mechanics without the mystery of God’s life. The literal blood of Christ is indeed precious.
In (2), even Judas Iscariot recognized the “innocent blood” of the innocent substitute – but only with mental assent. And Satan himself knows the blood’s incredible significance, but despises it, because the blood does not avail for him. It is not surprising that one of Satan’s foremost projects has been to veil the minds of men from the value of the blood, and to inspire false teachers to deride true Christianity as a “slaughterhouse religion” (3); (4).
The blood of Christ is precious. It avails for you. It is incorruptible and innocent. The Father is satisfied when He sees the blood (5). Even beyond this, the blood of Christ is divine. Listen to Paul as he charges the elders of the church at Ephesus, “Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood” (Acts 20:28b, NIV). The blood of Jesus is precious because it is divine! Its true power can not be reckoned upon by the natural mind. It can only be the cause for eternal worship of the Lord Jesus in total gratitude for His infinite love expressed in the shedding of His own blood for us.
