“I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by name, am the God of Israel” (Isaiah 45:3).
A woman’s husband left her after many years of marriage. She and her children were brokenhearted. She could not pick up the pieces. She was in a dark place. She did not feel like she cared about anything. Believers will go through times when they feel like they cannot make it. But if they go before the Lord, they will discover the riches of His love. They will continue to find treasures in darkness and hidden secrets in dark places – things they would not discover if it were not for the situation God planned. “The Lord hath said that He would dwell in the thick darkness” (II Chronicles 6:1).
God is in the middle of a believer’s thick darkness. By the light of the Word, a believer can walk through this darkness. Friends may leave, people who love him may go (2), but the Lord will meet him in difficult times and he will discover the faith walk. It is a walk of trusting Him, pleasing Him, and being conformed inwardly to His image.
