There is nothing wrong with taking a vacation. Still, I pity people who are so tired out that they can’t wait for their next vacation. The funny thing is that when some people are on vacation, they’ll say they can’t wait to get home again. They’re all tired out trying to be happy away from home.
God’s people need rest. It’s even better, however, when you can serve God and be on vacation all the time. Isaiah 32:18 tells us that there are many resting places for the people of God. The Christian life should be one great big vacation. After all, our sins will never be imputed to us. We have passed from death unto life (John 5:24), and we are at rest in the Finished Work of Jesus Christ.
When I think of the word vacation, I think about Jesus’ words in Matthew 11:28-29: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”
