A Better Way

The Bible is against criticism whenever it conflicts with eternal viewpoint. You may say, “But it is constructive, and everyone needs to be criticized.” Consider for a moment a better way. This principle involves the application of positive communication, and creative teaching rather than constructive criticism.

This method works well whenever the individual has a capacity to receive the word of God in humility. If your employer approached you by saying, “Now, I’m going to constructively criticize you,” right away that would bring out fear, a poor self-image and reaction. You would feel as though you failed in some area. On the other hand, if he said, “I see some tremendous qualities in you, I like the way you do that. You’re a very wise person, what would you think of doing it this way? Is this a proper way to accomplish our goal or would that way be better?” You would answer, “Yes.” In the process of evaluating a situation together in humility, both of your portions would be used in searching out solutions.

When a child is taught creatively instead of being criticized, the child becomes a creative person. What would happen if people all across the nation applied this method of approaching problems? People would be helped psychologically and emotionally. This is a dynamic new way for people to be motivated properly and to develop a positive attitude.
