The believer’s relationship to the promises of God determines the degree in which he will become a partaker of the divine nature. The most intimate relationship known to man is marriage. It follows then, that the believer ought to so align his heart with the promises of God that he is literally married to them and committed never to forsake them, no matter what circumstances he may face in his earthly life.
The decision to marry wisdom is a free volitional choice to respond positively toward God. Turning toward Christ always includes turning away from evil, negativity, lust, and the devices of Satan to destroy our capacity to think with God. Marrying wisdom means that the believer learns to think in specific categories of doctrine as they apply to every area of life. Thinking apart from the mind of Christ is often a result of ignorance concerning the teaching of the Word of God.
So, the more your heart is aligned to the promises of God, the clearer and sharper is your discernment in distinguishing between the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light. The will of God in decision making procedures becomes as a raised highway through the desert. Psalm 119:105 says, “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
