Many times the believer finds himself becoming physically drained halfway through a day because of an especially strenuous task or because of a lack of sleep. He needs energy to go on. This believer can be quickened according to God’s Word even at times when he is physically and emotionally exhausted. God has a special provision for this. It is indescribable in value. “Quicken me according to thy Word” (Psalm 119:154b), cried the psalmist.
Jesus Christ gladly pours His energy into the human vessel when human resources have been completely depleted. This sudden burst of energy comes when the Christian serves with his entire being. His motive and source is totally spiritual and supernatural, and he ends up drawing from God’s resources in everything he does. “In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength” (Isaiah 30:15b). The servant’s strength is found in quietness and confidence, as he is quickened by the Word of God. That is why I Thessalonians 4:11a says, “And that ye study to be quiet.”
When God finds that you are attending wholeheartedly to His work, He will provide you with strength according to His Word. Do not give up if your energy gives out and you still have a job left to do. When God calls you to a task, He will supply what you need to complete it.
