The Divine Creativity of the Master

Unfortunately, most people do not understand why they cannot properly evaluate anything from their own human resources. God has a creative provision for every detail of life. It is His method of approaching sinners.

Luke 19:1-10 is a beautiful illustration of this principle. Jesus passed by the sycamore tree. Notice His creative approach! He stopped underneath the tree and looked up at the little, crooked tax collector. Jesus said “Come down from that tree. I have an appointment with you for lunch today at your house.” What a beautiful, creative way to approach a “wicked old” tax collector. Jesus went to this little fellow’s house. He ministered unconditional love to Zacchaeus, never telling him to repent. After receiving the Lord into his home, he quickly turned from his dishonest ways, promising to restore fourfold whatever he had unjustly taken from others.

“And Zacchaeus stood and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham” (Luke 19:8-9).

May the Lord teach us how to be creative in our approach to lost souls so that we do not condemn them, but rather motivate them to repent and serve God.
