Pride is a thief that tries to totally destroy a believer. It is because of this that Satan was thrown out of heaven (2). Iniquity was found in his heart. Once the evil seed was sown, he continued to water it by exclaiming, “I will exalt myself above the most high” (Isaiah 14:14b). Pride robbed him of his glorious place in heaven (3).
This evil thief prevents Christians from honoring others above themselves (4) and from serving others in the Body of Christ (5). People who become its victim end up despising their neighbor (6), and breaking the commandment to love their neighbor as themselves (7). Thus disunity is born and a blessing is lost.
We, as followers of Jesus, need to watch that our blessings from God are not stolen from us. We need to keep ourselves humble before the Lord so that we can bless many people (8). We need to take the lowly seat, while we rest in Jesus Christ’s grace. Beware of the robber – pride. “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud” (Proverbs 16:18-19).
